Valentine’s Sensory Play

Valentine’s Day provides a great focus for sensory play. Why not try creating magical love potions with our cauldrons, rustic masher and mixing bowl and posh mud pie set? Alternatively, pink food colouring and foam on a mirror tray are a wonderful way to get festive. 

Love Themed Loose parts play

From one to one correspondence to fine motor play and transient art, Valentine’s Day offers a great way to anchor current events in all year round provision. We’ve shared some lovely love themed ideas here!

Maths and One to One Correspondence 

Why not add pink and red themed items to a fraction basket, tens frame or simply loose in a tuff tray, and encourage children to practice their counting skills?

‘Love letters’

Nothing says authentic mark making like an opportunity to write a card - so why not encourage children to write notes to those they love, like family members and friends? You might like to add enhanced provision like red and pink card, and encourage children to get crafty to create their cards afterwards.

Exploring flowers

A final fun activity is exploring flowers. Great for after Valentine’s Day once flowers are a little past their best - or simple find them out in the wild!
