Using Flowers in Continuous Provision: Spring EYFS Ideas
There is no time like Spring,
When life's alive in everything,
Before new nestlings sing,
Before cleft swallows speed their journey back

Welcome Spring! We're not sure about you but we were very much ready for some wonderful Spring sunshine. There's no time like this buzzy, bustling time of year to incorporate some of nature's beauties into your EYFS or KS1 provision. We've put together some fun activities that embrace the bright flowers of this time of year! Here we've used flowers from a bouquet multiple times along with wild flowers. It's up to you how you choose to go about this yourself.
Flowers for one to one correspondence

Petals and flowers lend themselves beautifully to simple one to one correspondence activities. Leave out in provision along with ten frames and number trays like we have here.
Sensory play

A selection of beautiful buds and blooms added to one of our fraction baskets offers a wonderful opportunity for exploration, colour comparison, size, and scent!
Transient art

Here we've combined our sensory basket and some wooden tweezers to encourage children to create a wonderful transient art piece!
Enhancing loose parts play

Why not add petals and flowers to your loose parts play and explore how their textures add a whole new element to the magic!
Flower pressing

A wonderful way to preserve the magic of Spring and Summer, flower pressing encourages children to use their fine motor skills while creating a beautiful piece of art! Our pattern hammers make a great enhancement to this, creating interesting effects.
