National Education Nature Park Funding: Your Guide

The Department for Education has announced £3 million of new funding. It will support outdoor learning through the National Education Nature Park programme. This grant will run through the 2025–2026 academic year. It helps schools and nurseries bring nature into their outdoor spaces.
Over 1,000 settings will be offered support. This includes nurseries, schools, and colleges. If your setting qualifies, you could get up to £5,000 to spend. The money is for improving your outdoor space for learning and biodiversity.
Who Can Apply?
The Royal Horticultural Society will contact eligible settings in summer 2025. This will happen before the application window opens in September 2025.
If you are part of a multi-academy trust, you may still qualify. Each eligible site will appear separately on the list.
You can find more details in the DfE's official funding guide for the Nature Park.
What Can the Funding Be Used For?
You can use the funding for a range of nature-based resources, such as:
- Fieldwork tools like Clipboards and Trug Baskets
- Gardening tools and sheds
- Nature stations and workbenches
- Help from contractors to guide or set up your space
You can also improve biodiversity by adding:
- Planters
- Green walls
- Grassland areas
