Magazine Issue 1

The first issue of Inspiring Learning Environments celebrates the transformative power of outdoor learning and its significant impact on children’s development. Designed for professionals in the early years sector, the magazine provides valuable insights, inspiring case studies, and practical ideas for creating engaging, nature-based learning spaces.

A key feature is an exclusive interview with Juliet Robertson, a globally recognised advocate for outdoor education. Robertson shares her journey, offering advice on embedding outdoor learning into early years settings. She emphasises the importance of leadership, professional development, and utilising local natural spaces to enrich children’s experiences.

The issue also highlights the work of Kids Planet Nurseries, a network of over 220 nurseries committed to children’s right to daily outdoor play. Their philosophy focuses on empowering practitioners to act as gatekeepers to outdoor environments, with support from Cosy, a leading supplier of sustainable educational resources.

Additionally, the magazine highlights Little Wildings Nature Play, an outdoor stay-and-play group founded by Jess Larkin. With Cosy’s innovative equipment, Larkin has transformed woodland into a vibrant space for child-led, creative play.

Rooted in sustainability, biophilic design, and teacher-led research, this magazine offers tools, inspiration, and guidance to help educators champion natural learning and create healthier, happier futures for children.
