Italy Study Tour with Niki Buchan

Italy is the hometown of some of the greatest minds in education: Maria Montessori and Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilia approach. In Italy, every early childhood setting includes some Montessori and Reggio Emilia elements. We will visit Italian Early Years settings to experience this embedded culture and practice.

With the expert guidance of Lorenzo Filippi, based in Rome, we will also explore Nature Pedagogy in Italy inspired by the pedagogy of education in nature coming from Germany and Scandinavia combined with emotional teaching. We will visit three settings, to include L’Asilo nel Bosco, a kindergarten and primary school catering for children 2 – 10 years and Asilo Crescere nel Bosco (Grow up in the wood). We will observe the rhythm of the day and participate in breakfast, lunch, numerous activities as well as shared conversations. We will develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of Italian Nature Pedagogy and culture.

Cost of £1500 all-inclusive includes return flights from Birmingham, travel in Italy, accommodation in a shared room (add £100 supplement for single room), breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 3 site visits. Our tours are small and personalised enabling us to deeply immerse ourselves in the experiences and activities with children and practitioners.
